The day will be fun-filled and inspirational with live entertainment - Irish classical and folk music, poetry readings and food and wine.
Established in 2007 Gallery 13 is owned by Irish sculptor Linda Brunker. Gallery 13 is the only gallery in LA specializing in contemporary art by acclaimed Irish artists and features bronze sculptures by Linda Brunker in her trademark filigree style. Her sculptures are typically based on the human figure and have a strong ecological and spiritual quality. Linda was born in Dublin and a budding musician and childhood friend called Bono persuaded her to follow her destiny as he passionately talked about the importance of art in the world. Linda went on to astonish the art world and the public who rushed to buy her work with her innovative sculptures and now has pieces in public and private collections worldwide.
Gerard Cox was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1954. He is an acclaimed sculptor who recently discovered painting and woodblock printing. He has exhibited in Ireland, Japan, Korea & Germany and won prestigious awards for his sculpture. In sculpture his work was based on organic forms, nature and landscape. Now in painting he has captured the intensity of life by expressing the spirit of nature through color. In each new painting he celebrates life. Gerard Cox masterfully, creates living entities which have movement, vibrancy, color, rhythm and expression.
Gregory Toal was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1961. He developed a unique style in pen and watercolor and was a professional illustrator before pursuing painting full time. His enigmatic landscapes have popular appeal and serve as a reminder of the beauty and power of the Irish landscape. He was invited to exhibit at the Florence Biennale in 2003 & 2005/7 and Arad Biennale, Romania, in 2005. His subjects are “mostly isolated beaches where one can experience solitary”. His unique linear paintings are expressive and emotive and each one is fuelled by his mood at the time of painting.
Paul Christopher Flynn was born in Dublin in 1963. In 1986 he gave up painting and moved to the United States for seventeen years. In 2003, he returned to live in Ireland and resumed painting. His evocative images immediately attracted attention from the art world and collectors. His first solo show sold out as have all his subsequent exhibitions. A recent newspaper article described him as one of “Ireland’s most bankable new artists”. He investigates image and technique producing muted, gestural landscape paintings. In Paul’s words he intends to “invoke, rather than explain the land. It is my ambition for my paintings that they become centers of calm in the spaces in which they are hung, points from which the viewer may begin a contemplation of his own inner landscape.”
